Is there really a bad hat?

I find it hard to decide sometimes whether a hat is bad or good. That includes both my hats and the hats of other designers. The thing is, there are all kinds of people out there—people with stories that are very different from my own. When making a hat I remind myself that mine is not the only face that will wear it.

Nice picture, you little imp, you.

On bad hats: I am reminded of the classic scene from Caddyshack where Rodney Dangerfield turns to Judge Smails in the golf store: "My God," he says, "That's the worst hat I have ever seen in my life,
....but it looks good on you though."

Some photographers are miracle workers!

I don't remember that line, but if I ever see that movie again I'll try to pay attention.

I've collected a few hats that I thought were horrid, and then found the person with the face that makes the hat look glorious.

Stranger still...I've had hats that looked awful on me for years, then one day *bing!* it looks perfect on me.
Then the next day it doesn't work again.
Mood and confidence has so much to do with making a hat a winner.

I totally agree with you about how different a hat can look from day to day. I've had the same thing happen to me. People wear their mood like they wear their clothes, and I hate it when they just don't match.
